Thomas Sebright, Hunting Lithograph.
A very large and imposing Fox Hunting tinted lithograph with original hand colour of a huntsman, Thomas Sebright. Thomas is the main central figure and can be seen poised and dignified mounted on a light brown horse dressed in traditional fox hunting attire - a red coat, beige breeches, and black boots, along with a black riding cap. In his right hand he is holding a riding crop, whip. To the right-hand side is another huntsman, similarly dressed, sitting with his back to the viewer also sat upon a horse. He is managing a pack of hounds that appear to be eager and energetic, streaming through the gate. In the background is the rolling countryside , a large herd of stags can be seen to the left, large stone buildings to the right, likely part of an estate or hunting lodge. The scene is rendered in a highly detailed and realistic style, text below reads "This Print of Thomas Sebright, Huntsman" is dedicated by permission to The Right Honourable The Earl Fitzwilliam, K.G. by his obedient and humble servant George Sebright. Thomas Sebright was a famous huntsman of the Fitzwilliam Hunt, and such prints were commonly commissioned in the 19th century to celebrate rural traditions and the individuals who maintained them. This kind of print would have been popular with the British gentry and aristocracy, who were patrons of fox hunting. The Fitzwilliam (Milton) Hunt has a considerable history attached to it, going back over 250 years in its present form, and probably longer than that. The Kennel records of hound pedigrees go right back to 1760, but the Hunt was probably formed in the 1740s when several of the Governing Packs of English Foxhounds, of which the Fitzwilliam was one, were formed.
George Sebright was a provincial painter of equestrian subjects including portraits of hunters and racehorses.

A great impressive picture, irrespective of the slight staining to the bottom of the print. Frame needs a little attention.
