Rolfe's Angling Sketches.
An extremely rare colourful fishing lithograph after Henry Leonidas Rolfe (1823 - 1881) 'Rolfe's Angling Sketches, Not Long Caught'. Printed in colours by J. West Giles with hand finishing, printed by M & N Hanhart. Although the tile - Rolfe's Angling Sketches - hints at a series this was a stand alone fishing print.

Henry Leonidas Rolfe was a prolific painter of angling and sporting subjects and an enthusiastic fisherman. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institution, Royal Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts in Dublin. One of his finest works entitled "A Fine Catch" shows a pair of salmon, 50lb and 40lb, caught by Mr. Haynes on Loch Tay, on 11th and 18th February 1880 with a Phantom Winner. The 50 pounder took one and three-quarter hours to land.
