The Homing Pigeon Clock, Turners Patent.
An early 20th century cylindrical brass cased homing pigeon clock, Hateley's Patent No. 14307/07. The silvered dial inscribed "The Homing Pigeon Clock, Turners Patent" with a winged arrow motif and one large 12 hour Arabic main dial and three smaller subsidiaries, Arabic numbers 1 to 24, the clock standing on three pairs of brass feet. The large carry handle attached to an engraved plate "HATELEY'S PATENT NO. 14307/07", the rim with additional No. 1.722, whilst back plate with No. 3.2 45. The clock being sold with four original letters patent for Great Britain & Belgium, 1903 & 1906, in brown Henry Skerrett patent agent envelopes. The envelopes contain the granted patents with highly detailed drawings of the inner workings. The patents for "Improvements in, or additions to, instruments for recording the return of Homing Pigeons and for analogous purposes". Patentees being Alex Turner & William Henry Turner, trading as Turner Brothers of Coventry. The original patent No. 1886 granted on the 3rd December 1903.
