Wooden Model of a Motorcycle.
A fabulous scratch built wooden model of a 1946 350cc Matchless motorcycle. This half-size scale model was built by Phillip Miller of Essex and is an exact replica of a Matchless motorcycle. Miller owned the original 1946 Matchless when he was 17 having restored the bike back to roadworthy condition. This extraordinary hand made motor bike is made in various woods and wooden veneers with extraordinary detail. It has rolling wheels, working steering, opening tool box and is mounted on a bazied display base with several miniature tools, oil can with leak and roller chain, all made in wood. There is a plaque that reads '1946 Matchless 350cc half size in various woods by Phillip Miller, year 2005'. Phillip Miller owned his own company and worked as a pattern maker. Upon retirement he concentrated on his model making and 'The Woodworker' magazine made Miller woodworker of the year in 2006 for his wooden replica Matchless motorcycle. The Matchless took just over 12 months to make from scratch.
The display base measures 43 ½" by 31 ¼".
