Hazell Streamline Tennis Racket, Red Star.
A good triple branch Red Star Streamline tennis racket made by Hazells' of 111-113 Mare Street, London E 8. The racket is in very good condition for it's age, all transfers are bright in colour with slight rubbing to some. The racket is with one broken string but is a great example of this iconic racket.
The design of the Streamline racket was filed for patent on December 17th 1935 by Frank W Donisthorpe, a former tennis player and its inventor. The company made tennis, badminton and squash rackets named red, blue and green star. They also produced a painted white and an aqua colour racket. Bunny Austin, the English tennis champion, actively promoted the Streamline racket. It was popular not just for its eye catching design but also for the practicality of its light weight.
