ZoZo Style Gunmetal Mallet Putter.
A good playable hickory shafted gunmetal (brass) mallet putter with steel face insert. The face with dash, hyphen face markings. The shaft with polished leather grip. The crown of the brass putter stamped 'R.J. Sellars' within an oval with the 'Star Of David' (Hexagram - six-pointed star) cleek mark just below. Robert John Sellars, Putney Bridge Road, London, was described as a clubmaker in the trade directory.
The measurements shown are the length of the shaft with hosel and the width and depth of the face.
The original "ZoZo" gunmetal putter with iron face insert was introduced by Alex Anderson of Anstruther in 1904 and promoted as being adapted for use with rubber-core golf balls.
