Antique Golf Club, Scared Head Wood.
Antique Golf Club, Scared Head Wood.
Scared Head William Gibson Golf Club.
An elegant dogwood scared-head (or "scare-joint") driver by William Gibson of Kinghorn, Fife. This fine club features a small head with lead weight set into the rear of the head and the traditional horn slip along the leading edge of the sole. The polished, light-stained head is stamped "Gibson, Special, Dogwood" and bears Gibson's distinctive cleek mark, the Outline Star.
The club retains its original hickory shaft fitted with a suede leather grip, adding to its period character and appeal. Presented in good condition, this is a fine example of an early 20th-century scared-head golf club, showcasing the craftsmanship and materials associated with the era.
The measurements shown represent the overall length of the club, together with the width of the face and the depth of the head.
