French Car Racing Game, Jeu De Course.
Rare antique French mechanical automobile racing game 'Jeu de Course'. Intended as a parlour game, it consists of six metal cars all numbered and of different colours. The cars rotate on a circular track with four metal gantries and removable flagpole finishing line with the French flag. The game is activated by a spring operated lever at the front which propels the cars forward, as their momentum slows and the cars stop moving the one closest to the flag wins. There is some minor staining on the "grass" surface but otherwise in good working order. The tinplate at the front is embossed with 'Jeu de Course, France, M.J. & Cie'. This early twentieth century French parlour game was made in various sizes and styles, the most common featuring a horse race.
