A rare and very well-made Hardy Slater Pattern Nottingham Starback centrepin fishing reel, crafted from walnut by the renowned fishing tackle makers, Hardy Brothers of Alnwick. Based on the original design by David Slater, these distinctive wooden Nottingham Starback reels remain highly sought after by collectors.
This finely crafted reel is fitted with an optional check mechanism, a brass line guard, a brass foot, and twin bone handles mounted on brass backplates. The brass starback is stamped with Hardy's maker's details, while the reel retains an attractive age-related patina that reflects its authenticity and careful use over the years.
Presented in good, clean condition, this is a fine example of Hardy's renowned craftsmanship and an excellent addition to any collection of antique fishing tackle.
