Wicker Fishing Creel
Wicker Fishing Creel
Vintage Wicker Creel.
A very good example of an unusual shaped American style wicker pot bellied fishing creel. The creel is with a hinged lid by means of a large dowel and screws, has a twisted wire metal clasp and a leather shoulder strap. There are a collection of six old Bristol fishing licenses with the creel.
The creel was an important piece of equipment for the early angler as with the addition of damp moss, lining the bottom of the creel, it would keep the days catch fresh.
