Antique Leather Pot Bellied Fishing Creel

Antique Leather Pot Bellied Fishing Creel

£ POA

Pot Belly Leather Fishing Creel.
A fine example of an early 19th Century leather pot bellied fishing creel with leather shoulder strap. The brass hinged leather lid is embossed with an attractive sun burst pattern and inspection hole. The brass clasp is a replacement.

The creel was an important piece of equipment for the early angler as with the addition of damp moss, lining the bottom of the creel, it would keep the days catch fresh.
