Revolving Antique Poker Chip Carousel.
A nice set of gambling counters in a revolving keeper. The carrier contains eight individual circular slots containing coloured gaming chips (74 red, 78 yellow, 79 white and 72 purple/blue) and two slots with a deck of cards in each. The playing cards are German with the pictured cards in each suit being 'B', 'D' and 'K' for the 'Jack', 'Queen' and 'King'. There are 52 cards in each pack with a joker. The whole set is in excellent condition, the carousel is covered in thin leather and freely revolves. There is a trade label on the bottom that reads 'Jeffery, Sons & Co. Ltd., House Furnishers, Northampton. C37793'.
Joseph Jeffery founded the Furnishing and Cabinet-making business of Jeffery Sons and Co. Limited in 33 Gold Street, Northampton in 1875. Two of the sons worked at the highly successful family furnishing business but Harold Montague Jeffery (the third son) apprenticed to an Outfitting Trade with a firm in Leamington Spa.
