Vintage Hand Built Trout Fly Fishing Rod, 'The Tenacity'.
A fine hand built 9ft 6 inches 2 piece split cane trout fly fishing rod, The Tenacity, hand built by Lt. Colonel Oborn himself. The rod with agate lined butt guide, snake rings and cork handle. The rod has an image of a dry fly behind the stripping guide and the painted black inscription spiralling around the shaft 'the "Tenacity" (hand built) cane, 'Built by Lt. Colonel Oborn, Marnhull, Dorset' and comes with alloy/cork stoppers and the original canvas case.

Lieutenant-Colonel Gerald Oborn began making fishing rods during his military service and on his retirement from the South Lancashire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's Volunteers) began making rods full-time. Oborn worked from his garden workshop in Marnhull, Dorset and hand built every rod himself, putting a small image of a 'fly' on the rods. Oborn rods are quite rare as at the time they were quite exclusive, only being marketed through Harrods, a small outlet called "Rod-box" and a few custom orders placed in local tackle shops.
