Satirical Pictures, Prints By Walter James Allen Of The Jubilee Banquet.
A very rare pair of original hand coloured photo lithographs 'McQueen's Dogs At The Jubilee Banquet'. The lithos are of anthropomorphic dogs at the Queens Jubilee Banquet, a Terrier with a monocle and Bull Dog wearing the Order of the Garter, both proposing a toast 'The Ladies! To Drink To These Fair Ladies' and 'The Queen & The Royal Family, God save The Queen'. The extra publication details on the lithographs 'Entered according to Act of Congress on the year 1886 by M. Knoedler & Co. in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington', 'London, Published Dec. 1st 1886 by F.C. McQueen & Sons. 181 Tottenham Court Road, W, Stiefbold & Co., Berlin. Knoedler & Co., New York, Copyright Registered'. Both with McQueen's blind stamp, the two full toasts 'The Ladies! To Drink To These Fair Ladies, Henry 8, A1.S4' and 'The Queen & The Royal Family, God Save The Queen, Richard 111, AV1.S1'.
A satirical take on the celebration of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, 1887.
