Jenner & Knewstub

1856 - 1889
The London firm of Jenner & Knewstub were established around 1856 by Frederick Jenner and Fabian James Knewstub. The firm was listed as 'heraldic stationers, die-sinkers, engravers and cutlers, in addition to jewellers, watchmakers, and skilled craftsmen of dressing cases, jewellery boxes etc.'. An advertisement of 1873 shows that they were also selling watches, jewellery, cutlery, travelling bags, despatch boxes, writing cases and held royal warrants with both the royal families of both Britain and Russia. They were located at 33 St James's Street, and then later in 1862, at 66 Jermyn Street, London with their work being displayed at the International Exhibition of 1862 in London and at the International Exposition of 1878 in Paris.
One of their partners, Charles Louis Faber, retired from the company in 1886, although not much is known about his role in the company, or even when he joined Jenner & Knewstub. The company was liquidated in 1889 and absorbed into the business of A. Webster & Co. at 60 Piccadilly, London.
