A superb late Victorian five-piece deer antler carving set by Mappin & Webb, presented in its original oak case, beautifully lined with rich blue silk and crushed velvet. The silk interior is gilt-stamped 'Mappin & Webb, Manufacturing Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, Oxford Street, London, W', adding to the set's distinguished presentation.
Each piece is fitted with finely ornate silver mounts, hallmarked Sheffield, 1893/94. The blade sharpener is marked 'Mappin & Webb', while the silver end caps on the antler handles bear both the hallmarks and the 'M & W' maker's mark. The case retains its original plain brass cartouche to the lid, left unengraved.
