Antiques Slazengers 'Stadium' Tennis Posts.
A lovely pair of lawn tennis posts made of oak by Slazengers Ltd. with original cast iron bases and a court net still in original brown paper wrapping. The posts with brass net hooks, brass top caps stamped 'Slazengers Ltd.', one post with gun metal winding mechanism. The posts were offered for sale in Slazengers 1916 catalogue priced at 72/- per pair. The posts have been re-polished and the cast iron re-touched with green paint. A stunning pair of antique tennis court posts, just like the ones used at Wimbledon.
We have three images of the posts as advertised in a Slazenger 1916 catalogue.

Slazengers says of the posts:-
Slazengers Ltd. "Stadium" lawn tennis pole, the strongest and most reliable pole yet produced.
As used for the last seven years at the All England Championship Meeting, Wimbledon, and at the Queen's Club, also all the leading Tournaments.

The system of winding is such that the minimum amount of power is required, a gradual strain upon the Net being easily obtained, while the jerky action, which has been so soften known to break the net-cords, is entirely obviated.
The Base is constructed in two parts, allowing the Pole to be easily detached, and rendering the same most convenient for packing or removing at nightfall, while the feet are enamelled so as to better withstand bad weather and rough usage.
