Taxidermie Stag.
A prepared or stuffed head of a Stag. The specimen is of an Indian Sambar which is a large and strongly built species of deer. The females are of a smaller build than the males. Their coats are thick and long and dark brown in colour. The males have a thick mane of hair around their neck.
The Sambar also resides in Australia. This specimen is most probably prepared by Van Ingen and is mounted on its original but reshaped teak board.
