Large Black Forest Game Plaque.
A charming large 19th Century 'Black Forest' wall plaque of exceptional high quality. The beautiful antique wooden hunting wall plaque is with impressive carvings consisting of a deer, pheasant, hare, hunting horn, foliage, game bag and riffle. The intricate back board is adorned with acorns and oak leaves. This stunning piece is most probably carved from Limewood (Lindenwood) but looks very similar to walnut and is with great colouring and patina.

Taken from Wikipedia
Tilia is a genus of about 30 species of trees or bushes, native throughout most of the temperate Northern Hemisphere. In the British Isles, they are commonly called lime trees, or lime bushes, although they are not closely related to the tree that produces the lime fruit. Other names include linden for the European species, and basswood for North American species.
