Antique Hickory Brassie Golf Club By Josh Taylor.
A fine golf club wood by Josh Taylor (brother of John Henry "J.H." Taylor who was best known for his fine British Open play, winning his first Open in 1894 and went on to win it a further four times). The original hickory shaft with suede leather grip shaft stamped 'Josh Taylor'. This great looking club has a polished persimmon wood club head, lead weight to the rear, traditional horn slip along the leading edge of the sole, full brass sole plate, head is stamped 'Josh Taylor, Special'.
Taylor was a professional at Aldeburgh and later at a number of other clubs: Seacroft (from 1907), Acton (from 1909), Sudbury (from 1920) and Richmond Park (from 1924).
The measurements shown are the length of the whole club, the width of the face and depth of the head.
