Taxidermy. Preserved Cooper Fish.
A cased bream by Copper in a nice bow fronted case with gilt lines. There is a paper inscription inside 'Taken at Waltham Abbey by Mr. A. Salmon, 20th July 1875, Weight 3 1/4lbs'. The case contains a cleverly modelled fish set against a painted backdrop with realistic river bed setting by arguably the best fish taxidermist 'J. Cooper'. A small trade label internally top right reads 'Preserved by J. Cooper, 28 Radnor Street, St. Luke, London, E.C'.
