Roland Knight Fish Oil Paintings, Fishing On The Thames.
A fine pair of original Victorian oil on canvas fish paintings by A. Roland Knight (1879-1921), renowned angling artist. The two studies are 'A Fallen Monarch' and 'Thames Barbel Fishing', both on the river Thames. The fish vibrantly represented with intricate detail and life like quality, an outstanding pair of oil paintings, both signed A. Roland Knight to the lower right corner. There is writing to the reverse of the paintings, 'A Fallen Monarch, Thames Trout Fishing' is on one and 'Thames Barbel Fishing, take her up tenderly, lift her with care Jon Hood' on the other. A similar study by Knight is known as 'Landing A Brown Trout'. The oils have been professionally cleaned and are in the original frames that have been restored.
