Burroughes & Watts Table Top Cricket Game.
An extremely rare folding table top cricket game 'The Cricket Board' by Burroughes & Watts, London. The game is in a mahogany folding case, very similar to a bagatelle board with a Burroughes & Watts label. The playing surface is green baize with red boundary lines. There is an automated batsman and bowler with five fieldsmen and a set of stumps. This is quite a remarkable game with amazing mechanics hidden under the board to allow the batsman and bowler to operate. The batsman, by the means of two brass levers, can swing his bat and is also able to change direction. The bowler is operated by three levers, one changes direction, one the strength of the bowl and the final one releases the ball towards the batsman. The five out fielders and bowler are standing in front of catch nets with a baized gallery, if the ball falls within then the player is out, they are also out if the stumps are hit. In all the years (over 45 years) we have been dealing in sporting antiques we have never seen this game before. A great party game and ideal for the cricket enthusiast who thought that they had seen it all.
