A good Welsh baseball bat, also know as British baseball. The bat is very similar in design to a cricket bat with a corded grip but without the shoulders. The bat is in good condition with a nice patina.
British Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played primarily in Wales and England. The game has many similarities to rounders and cricket. The modern rules of British Baseball were drawn up in 1892, and the name 'rounders' was dropped from the sport. The South Wales Baseball Association was established to govern the sport at around this time. In 1908 the first recognised international match between England and Wales took place at the Harlequins Ground in Cardiff, which Wales won. The roots to baseball go back along way with literary references to baseball and rounders going back many centuries.
