Snaffles WW II Military print "Forrard on me Lads and hit 'em - ard.!!".
A coloured Snaffles lithograph entitled 'Forrard on me Lads and hit 'em - ard.!!' showing a farmer in his field, with his two horses, waving to a passing squadron of bombers. In the bottom left hand margin is a remarque depicting a huntsman with his hounds. The print is with a Snaffles signature in pencil and the Snaffles blindstamp, nicely framed in a new black frame. 'Acknowledgements to Punch' appears under the image, this is in recognition of the image first appearing in the Punch magazine on 27th August 1941. Normally an image would appear in a periodical and would then be turned into a formal print.

Charles 'Snaffles' Johnson Payne (1884 - 1967) was an English painter who specialised in water colours, and who's subject matter was invariably equestrian (racing, hunting, polo and pig sticking), military or a combination of these. Snaffles had a very distinctive style by showing just one person in detail, in addition he added remarques and amusing captions to supplement the pictures and main title.
