Montreal Snowshoe Club Photograph.

A very rare composite albumen print by William Notman (1826-1891). The print has the embossed mark of the photographer and is in an ebonised and gilt Oxford frame. Notman's career as a photographer in Montreal spanned 35 years, during which time he built the largest photographic business in North America.
The Snowshoe Club, founded by prominent businessmen in 1843, must have been the first club of its kind in the world.
