Vintage Edward Thomason Patent Corkscrew.
A good working Edward Thomason Patent bronze barrel corkscrew. The metal corkscrew is well made with a turned bone handle and dusting brush. Open your bottles of wine in a flash. The patented corkscrew was the ingenious invention of Edward Thomason in 1802. The mechanism incorporates both male & female threads enabling the extraction of the cork from the bottle very easily by turning the handle clockwise, then by turning the handle anticlockwise - the cork would fall off the worm. The barrel is with the applied Thomason Patent" badge with his motto "NE PLUS ULTRA" meaning "No more beyond".
The pictures show the corkscrew with the mechanism housed and fully extended.
