Vintage Table Top Swing Ball Game.
A rare table top swing ball game in original pine box. The exterior of the lid with stenciled name 'Le Spiroble de Salon'. The interior with paper instructions. The Victorian or early Edwardian game comprises of a short beech-wood pole with weighted X base and a ball on a piece of string. There are two very nice long handled rackets to accompany the set, the rackets with original gut stringing.
A fine and I believe very rare set.

The Salon Spiroble.

Two Players: -
This game is played on a table divided into two equal parts by the Trace. It consists of a Pole on top of which is attached a string terminated by a capped ball.
To install the Post, insert the end into the round lead carrier in the form of a cross. The support is placed in the middle of the table in the axis of the trace.
Two players take part in the game. Each with a racket, they are placed in ???? one of the other of each side of the Trace and draw lots to whom will throw the ball. The player forwards launches the ball strongly with his raquetts so as to wrap the string around the pole. The other player tries to hit the ball in passing, on the other hand, to thwart the move and try himself to roll the cor-delette in the opposite direction. Each winding is worth one point to the player who gets it.
The gain of 10 points ensures that of the game. Players must not breach the boundary of their side camp after their ball.

Four Players: -
Instead of a Trace dividing the table into two equal parts, there are two of them, placed in a cross, par-tagging the table in four equal camps. The post is placed in the center. Each player is posted at the corner of his camp. The other requirements are those of the 2-player game.
