"The South Berks Hunt" by Cecil Aldin.
This framed and very colourful Cecil Aldin fox hunting photolithograph is called 'THE SOUTH BERKS HUNT, Away from Pearman's Covert' from the series Hunting Countries. It was published by Alfred Bell & Co., Ltd. 6, Bond Street, London, W.1. July 1st 1925. The margin has been signed in pencil by the artist accompanied with a 'Fine Art Trade guild' blindstamp. The main scene is of a hunt with the huntsman Isaac Sheffield in the lead, followed by Guy Hargreaves who succeeded Aldin as MFH. Aldin himself is seen jumping into the lane, on the left-hand side, in a black jacket.
On the rear of the original frame is a paper trade label of Barton & Long, Picture Frame Makers and Gilders, Printsellers & Artists' Colourmen, Experts in Picture Restoration, 84 Whiteladies Road, Redland, Bristol, No..3185/28.
There are a further two more labels on the rear, one reads:- A new and interesting series of fac-similies in colour "Hunting Countries" by Cecil Aldin. Each proof will be approved, and signed by the artist. "The South Berks" (Away from Pearman's Covert). The second reads:- "The South Berks" (Away from Pearman's Covert). The view taken is in the grassy lane between Mr. Colebrook's farm and Reading Agricultural College Farm. Hounds are swinging towards St. John's Covert and Mr. Eric Palmer's gorse. All the figures and hounds are portraits.
