Vintage Fox Hunting Print.
A very colourful original chromolithograph after Harry Neilson, "Mr. Fox's Hunt Breakfast on Xmas Day". A humorous hunting picture in very good original condition, with title, and new frame. Printed for The Penny Illustrated paper, Christmas Number, in 1897. The scene is of Mr. Fox and his friends in hunting attire, sat eating breakfast of game bird and eggs. Even the pictures on the wall are humorous with a roll revisal of the hunter becoming the hunted with the human hunter going to ground in one picture, in another he is been chased by a fox riding a hound. There are also trophy mounts on the wall of dogs heads.

Little is known about the artist, Harry Bingham Neilson (1861-1941), except that he was a sporting illustrator and painter, based mainly in Cheshire. He wrote and illustrated "How to draw in pen and ink" in 1905 and was the illustrator for Sir Francis Burnald's book entitled "The Foxes Frolic". His painting of "Mr. Fox's Hunt Breakfast on Xmas Day" is said to represent five members of the Blankney (Lincs.) Hunt circa 1900.
