Vintage Humerous Golf Print, Putting For His Nose.
A colourful humorous golf print after Charles Crombie entitled "Putting for his Nose". The picture is framed in an old dark brown oak frame with gold slip. The picture shows two monks, one about to putt whilst his companion is seen praying, looking on is a well-attired gentleman and his caddie. In the bottom right hand corner can be found the verse "A feature in ye game, played on ye linkes atte, Ayr between a lord of, CULZEAN and a monk, of CROSSRAGUEL for, hys nose". The picture was published by Golf Illustrated Ltd, 33 Temple Chambers, Temple Avenue, London E.C, 1904.
Charles 'Chas' Crombie (1885 - 1967) was an illustrator whose work is well known to the collector. His pictures can be found in many forms, on postcards, calendars, in books and on Royal Doulton ceramics.
