Rowing Oar Blade, Queens College Boat Club.
The full length 12' oar is an original traditional Queens College Boat Club (Oxford University) presentation rowing oar with calligraphy and college insignia. The writing on the trophy blade is in very good condition.
The trophy blade reads:-

Queens College Boat Club Torpids Eights 1885 (10th to 19th) - 1886 (19th to 16th) - 188716th to 12th) - 1888 12th to 9th.

A.F. Titherington

This oar is a later adaptation of an original. The oar itself is made by Ailing and is from the 1940s. It must have been painted any time after that, maybe the 1960 or 70ies.
We have four oars and the work is well and professionally done, and we guess that the original oars have probably been damaged or they where done for decorative purposes as they all came from the Randolph Hotel in Oxford.
