A Good Breeze, Yachting Oil Painting.
An original signed oil on board painting by John Henry Willis. The yachting, sailing painting depicts a single sailing dingy with cliffs in the distance. There is an original paper label on the back printed with the artists details 'J.H. Willis RBA., A.R.C.A, The Studio, 20 Titchfield Gardens, Paignton, Devon' and written in ink the title of the painting ' A Good Breeze' with its original price of 12 GNS.'
John Willis was born at Bere Alston, West Devon, in 1887. He was an exhibitor at the Royal Academy for over 40 years, and in 1922 until 1947 was the Deputy Principal of Hornsey School of Art. He was also a founder member of the Paignton Arts and Crafts Society.
