Circular Mahogany Barrel

Category: Accessories

Subcategory: General

Vintage Mahogany Barrel.
A wooden barrel, made from mahogany staves with metal straps. This antique mahogany barrel is beautifully made with mahogany stave tapered sides held together with three riveted copper bands. The sides fit snugly together and there is no sign of shrinkage or separation to the staves. Great colour with fine waxed patina. This would have been made by a cooper, who is trained to make wooden casks, barrels, vats, buckets, tubs, troughs and other staved containers, from timber that was usually heated or steamed to make it pliable. A very decorative piece for a variety of modern day uses.
