Bicycle Polo Advert and Mallet

Category: Equestrian

Subcategory: Polo

Salter & Sons Bicycle Polo Advert and Mallet, Aldershot.
A wonderful striking bicycle polo poster by J. Salter & Sons of Aldershot. They proudly announce on their advertisement that they are the 'sole makers for bicycle polo sticks' and it is 'a popular game for cyclists'. Along with the poster is a Salter's bicycle polo mallet 33 inches in length. It has a solid bamboo root cane shaft with a wooden head stamped with the makers details and the No. 33.
Polo enjoyed much popularity amongst British Army officers, especially in India. There were only two firms in England making Polo sticks and so Salter were astute in basing themselves in Aldershot, home of the British army.

In the 1930's was the second creation of the Bicycle Polo Association of Great Britain and a set of new rules were written.
