James Dixon Sandwich Case.
A hunting sandwich box in tan leather case. The plated sandwich box is with hinged lid, the outer case in leather with straps to fit to a saddle. Stamped on the metal sandwich case 'D, a trumpet, James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield, 946M'. James Dixon & Sons used the "Trumpet and Banner" mark to prevent mistakes with the hall mark "JD & S" which was used by another Sheffield manufacturer, James Deakin & Sons. James Dixon & Sons was established (1806) in Sheffield by James Dixon in partnership with a Mr. Smith.
