Ben Hogan Bookends.
A pair of bookends hand crafted from high quality traditional materials in our workshops set in the heart of the Cotswolds.
The original 1950's wooden club heads are mounted on oak with the bases weighted with lead. The Slazenger club heads are taken from steel shafted clubs and the metal sole plates have been mounted onto the bookends. The plates are numbered '1' and '2' with 'Slazenger', Hogans autograph and 'made in England'.
William Ben Hogan (1912 1997) was one of the greatest players in the history of golf. He was an American professional golfer who between the years of 1938 through to 1959 won 63 professional golf tournaments despite his career being interrupted in its prime by World War II and a car accident.
His 9 career professional major championships tie him with Gary Player for fourth all-time, trailing only Jack Nicklaus (18), Tiger Woods (14) and Walter Hagen (11). He has won all four major championships currently open to professionals, they are The Masters Tournament, The Open, The U.S. Open, and The PGA Championship. The win at Carnoustie was only a part of Hogan's watershed 1953 season, a year in which he won five of the six tournaments he entered, including three Majors.
