A wonderfully sculpted figure of the Champion Golfer Harry Vardon by Hal Ludlow. This statue is made of plaster and has been given a painted finish to look like bronze.
Henry Stephen Ludlow (Hal) was born in 1861. He studied at Heatherleys and Highgate Art Colleges. He became a portrait painter and illustrator for the Illustrated London News, Sketch Magazine etc. Hal Ludlow was also a fine golfer, he won the 1904 Welsh Native Amateur Championship.
Harry Vardon 1870-1937 was a champion golfer and member of the Great Triumvirate of the sport, together with J.H.Taylor and James Braid. During his career, Harry Vardon won 62 golf tournaments. He also was a a golf course architect.
