Sports and Games and Great Campaigns is the third joint exhibition by Manfred Schotten and Christopher Clarke Antiques. Both businesses are known for their expertise in their field. Manfred for his knowledge of sporting antiques and the Clarke brothers for theirs in campaign furniture. This exhibition brings together the best of both worlds and shows how easily the two sit together.
The Great Escape can mean so many things to different people. It might be driving through the countryside, with the top down in a classic car or it might be finding a rare addition for your collection. There can be many things to distract you from the routine of everyday life and we hope that this exhibition will not only show you a number but perhaps stir you to do something different or out of the ordinary.
Britain’s rivers have been the source of both life and pleasure to many people over the centuries. From the ghillie who earns a living from his knowledge of the local waters to the gentleman who relaxes by fishing on them; from the university crew rowing for glory to the lock keeper who watches the waters rise and fall; all are part of Britain’s river life. Still waters run deep will illustrate this rich heritage with pictures, silver, ceramics and equipment associated with the river from the 18th, 19th and early 20th Century.
