Set Of Four Lignum Vitae Lawn Bowls.
A set of four 'Crescent' lignum vitae lawn bowls by Taylor - Rolph Co. Ltd, London. The bowls are a size 5 1/8, have a No.3 bias and with discs on both ends, one with numbers 1 to 4 and the other with initials 'J.W.S'. They carry an official I.B.B (International Bowling Board) expiry date stamp for 1982 and 86 (this mark was introduced around 1929). The stamping is not very clear on the bowls, but we have had an identical set of Taylor - Rolph Co. Ltd. with clear stamping 'Crescent'. The bowls have the crescent grip on both sides, the grip is "handed", being made specially for a right or left handed players, thus the manufacturer has to know when manufacturing the set.
The wooden stands are sold separately.
